My father had very little formal education. He was the eldest son of a family large farmers who rent land poor, and his father wanted him to work on the ground and the barn instead of staying in school. Since my grandfather was the school board was able to interfere in education father. At the end of the fourth year the father did not attend often. At the end of eighth grade, he stopped going altogether.

Consequently, the father could not qualify for many jobs. Simple Steps did was beside himself. Small in size, many people were reluctant to hire workers to work well because they understood that was exceptionally strong. But finally found where the father has been accepted.

Father worked hard for earn a living for us. Five nights a week, and mail loaded and unloaded trucks and goods trains on the railway from Santa Fe, after eight hours working immediately out of mowing the lawn and garden during the day.

Towards sunset, was taking a bath to eat a light meal and clock for a few hours before waking to do it all over again at midnight. Some nights I would have to bear a load of grass clippings and brush to the landfill and painstakingly fork and shovel the debris in total darkness before they could go home to dinner.

On weekends, he would have the "luxury" eight hours of uninterrupted sleep. He lived in a permanent sleep caused by sleep deprivation.

Since few years, made even more. Realizing he had a little time on Saturdays and Sundays, when many people did not have to mow the lawn or do other types of cooking, Dad got a job delivering furniture to a local store. This has increased the number of hours worked each week to over 100. I exhausted all the time.

I was very proud of my dad, because nobody wanted him could be like him. I begged her father let me work for him in the lawn company. . . but I insisted on being paid. Otherwise, it was estimated not a real job. My father is gone and because I had always resented the way his father had kept all your receipts when I lived the house on the farm.

When I was three years could have a large selection of clippings a lawnmower and emptied at the rear the truck. At this age, I was cutting machines to use clean energy around the nozzle and pushing a broom, a little also. I wish to work for him as I could after school and on Saturdays.

As I grew older and bigger, I finally learned to do gardening. I also take with him on certain supplies of furniture and I would pay for help, even if I was too young to be engaged by the furniture store.

Dad was often expected to bear alone a refrigerator up six flights of narrow stairs. I want to take a little weight and direct the top of the refrigerator in the right direction. I have also been pushed to the logging destination, even if I was scared of heights. With my little body could get to the top of the tree, saw the branches and tie the cables used to pull the tree over after cutting the roots.

While my sister Anna, and I grew up, the mother stayed at home and punched us in the need achieve as much as possible. We are indebted to God and others to make the best of our abilities.

I am sure one reason he felt so, because of how hard my father was at work. But my mom also realized he had lost in education, he has ceased going to school when he was sixteen to work as a waitress in a diner. It was determined we would receive an education and to make good use of it.

Working with Dad to provide education that my mother knew nothing. It could detect problems mile and find ingenious ways to do things with virtually no resources.

Trimmers tree, while other employees from peaks, special belts, ladders, cherry pickers and chain saws, we did everything with hand saws, rope and a 6-foot rickety ladder. If this scale has not reached the lower branches, Dad or I shinny up the trunk until we reached the first component to maintain our weight.

Our security team has been only one in the tree with a rope around his waist, loops of cord a strong body and covers the other end of the rope on the ground where another to stand firm. Often falls off together to prevent members and broken fingers.

My father's idolatry of hard work has given me some problems. When I was about five years, our Minister came to Sunday dinner after church. Realizing that seemed to only work from 11 am to noon on Sunday, who kindly asked if it would be a real work for the rest of the week. My mother never got over his shame that consultation with children.

Dad and Mom had a weakness beyond its Education limited: they could not find the thought of spending money to obtain an advantage that could turn into more money. Fortunately, I was fascinated by numbers. While other children day dreaming, scribbling, or cartoons, when he said they were bored, I loved writing geometric progressions.

The way the numbers were drawn progressions as I was surprised then. It aggravates my thing.

Here is an example of a problem that my father was confused. It took almost eight hours a week to make charged in a landfill, fork and shovel load and go home. More time was spent unloading the bad smell is that was rotting for days.

While in the landfill, it looked like the dump trucks as drivers dropped huge loads few seconds. Forty minutes later, Dad would still grow.

He has often said how it would fit like a dump truck. But these trucks cost a fortune.

Years later, he heard of a company can install a lift in half-ton truck. The price of the crane and the installation was approximately $ 1,000. . . a fortune for a man who earned less than $ 10,000 per year.

What kind of father was missing was that the elevator lasted over 20 years and could be reinstalled on another truck for about $ 150. The cost of the life of the lift would probably be about $ 65 per year including maintenance.

That the costs to save my father at about 250 hours per year of work for which he has gained nothing. I said that if he could find work with an additional salary offered 25 cents per hour of revenue would be even financially. . . and if he could earn $ 1.25 for one of those times last week and forking charges, which could reduce their work week to four hours.

I looked amazement, my mother asked my thoughts. I do not think she ever understood this, but I would say that I thought was right.

About a week later, the ownership of a new lift in our van. In fact, this elevation lasted over 50 years and produced dozens of thousands of dollars in additional revenue, because my father is able to assume the task of high price is necessary for carrying heavy loads.

It was one of the few investment companies that my parents always had high performance. I still admire each Once the antique elevator I see it as a charm, after more than 45 years.

I became a financial guide for our family, searching for opportunities Financial. From the time I was a child, find opportunities that have earned or saved most of its net assets, as the work of other equipment Rescue and a revolutionary paint eliminates the need to repaint the house every few years. He also encouraged them to buy more houses. Homes in California was sure to increase in value, and did.

What lessons can be hard work, imagination and education you have observed?

I wonder what the market will be for heavy ex-military? With these .. High Gas Prices?

I have a 70 Old Style 2 1 / 2 ton Deucenahalf (as the name suggests) that I absolutely love it and would like more often. I'd like to get their hands on a crane, a dump truck and drilling and boring version of the M35 truck (but not called M35, if not the truck). There may be a good mileage on the hills, but I fill only about once every two months with his 50 gallon tank. I wonder if the price goes down on these trucks with the price of petrol and diesel (which you can use any of these trucks)? You can also fill half the oil, waste oil or oil change places, but you do not want to go but the fuel filters (and there are three) too quickly.

They go to a cheaper price ~!
